Training Philosophy

At Standfast Farm Arabians and Training
Center, we will work with a horse and owner to
help identify and achieve their goals.
We believe in instituting a training program
that best suits the horse and the rider that
allows them to reach their fullest potential
whether it be show-oriented or recreational
enjoyment. Everyone receiving lessons,
boarding or bringing a horse for training is
treated as a unique individual and gets
individual attention.
Our
motto is “Taking the time to do it right.” and
although we have been, at times, questioned
for taking time to turn out a finished show
horse, we believe implicitly that to develop
the most accomplished and happiest mount
requires time just as training a great gymnast
or figure skater. Our belief is borne
out by our continuing success in the show ring
and by the happy and content horses and owners
that follow our programs.
All
lessons center on building the confidence of
the rider whether it be taken on your own
personal mount or one of our well trained
school horses. Again, we will focus on
taking the time to work with each rider to
help them build their confidence in their
emerging skills and to help them accomplish
whatever goals they set for themselves.
Lessons are private, semi-private, and group.
There are no lessons with more than four
riders. We believe that this allows for
each participant to still get the individual
attention they need.
We
believe that personal and recreational
enjoyment of your horse is the highest end use
of your equine friend. We provide
support and encouragement for those who wish
to show their horse and, equally, for those
who just want to ride down the trail.
Every effort at Standfast farm is aimed at
content, happy horses and satisfied clients.
Video of
part of a group riding lesson- July 2007
In this video clip, the adult is riding
independently, working on what Terri has suggested, while Terri
focuses on a young rider. The video was taken by a friend of
the adult rider so you’ll see her most of the time, but you’ll hear
Terri talking to the junior rider.
